Weather postpones move of huge molding machine to Dow Chemical

The state Department of Transportation has put the brakes on today's delivery of a 60-ton injection molding machine to Dow Chemical Co. in Midland because of inclement weather, company spokeswoman Jennifer Heronema said.

The hulking piece of equipment was on its way from Lansing when snowfall made it unsafe for truck transport, she said.

Dow officials had planned a news conference to announce that the injection machine was part of its $50 million solar energy effort that will enable the business to produce materials used in the design of commercial and residential building materials, such as roofing systems, exterior sidings and fascias.

The company hopes to reschedule the event later this week, Heronema said.
